As I mentioned in my last blog, Jason and I did Easter with the kids this weekend. The weekend didn't go exactly as planned...but what ever does? I think in some ways, it turned out better.
Right now, it's about 12:30 and we're all just hanging out on the couches, watching TV. I had bought all of the boys (Jason too) similar shirts and Jasmine a really cute outfit for pictures. While Grandma Stella got everything ready to dye the eggs, we decided we'd do the pictures first, then dye eggs. I wrote a little while back about the album that Jason bought me for my birthday that said "Our Journey" on it, and I wanted to get some really good pictures to put in my album. I didn't get group pictures at Christmas like I wanted, but the pictures I got this Easter really made up for it. I couldn't be any happier with how this weekend and our Easter celebration went.
I started taking pics of Jason with the kids and then grandma took over the camera so I could get in the pics too. It was funny because Shawn was making us laugh hysterically throughout all of the pictures...and with all five of us, it was a little difficult to get everyone to be looking and smiling at the camera at the same time. I'm so happy with the pictures though. Jason even said that he enjoyed the day/night...which was really nice. Grandma got some really cute pictures of us, too.
Then after pictures, we all changed out of our good clothes to dye eggs. Jasmine said she had never dyed eggs before, so my guess is that the other two hadn't either. It was kind of cool to be there for a first for all three of them. Shawn did a really good job, considering he's the youngest. We thought he'd be rowdy...and actually Luke was the one that spilled the green dye all over him! HA!
Luke noticed I brought popcorn this time (thanks mom!) and he wanted some in the afternoon. I promised him we'd watch a movie after dinner and we could eat the popcorn. So, after a strenuous eliminating process, we decided on Night at the Museum. So, we turned off the lights, popped some corn and all sat down and watched the movie together...it was a lot of fun. The kids actually all stayed pretty quiet.
After that, the kids went to bed and Jason and I put all of their baskets together. I woke up [way too] early this morning to grandma saying, "No...you gotta wait for Nicole and dad to get up first!" Once we were all awake for a minute or two, we let them come in. It looked like Christmas all over again. lol
For the rest of the day, the kids are pretty rowdy. It's almost lunch time...then bath time...then home time. I haven't had a weekend this good since I can't remember...and I have Jason and the kids to thank. So in a few hours, we'll have to leave to take them home and we'll be on our way back to MO. Even though we're going back to "our home", it still feels like we're going in the opposite directions. So once again, we'll have our little "sing-off" (if my voice allows it) and try to cheer ourselves up again because we know it's another long two weeks before we get to be back. And sometimes that's all that works. At least I have Spring Break this week, so I'm not as sad to get back this time...I'll actually have some relaxing "me" time.
Well, I've been tying up Jason's computer for a while now uploading all of these pictures, and he wants to look up video cards, so I shall go until next time. I hope you all enjoyed the pictures. And then next weekend, we have another Easter celebration. :) I love you all and thank you for reading.
Love,
Cole
